Allow me to begin by saying that I believe that there is total and complete recovery from addiction. I do not believe the saying that once an addict always an addict. I have been addiction free for 28 years. Unfortunately, my Addiction Recovery did not come from experiencing a program. My family was not aware of the Equanimity and Christianity available to us during my addiction. For me it finally came down to a choice. I had to chose between my marriage or my addiction. Fortunately, I was in a place where I made the right choice and choose my marriage. It took along time and a lot of work to overcome my addiction.
Finding the cause for my addiction was key (and took the longest) but, after the root issue was discovered I began my Addiction Recovery. Like so many addicts I began out smoking pot and progressed after that until I was doing my drug of preference daily at the cost of everything and everybody around me. I lost precious time with my oldest daughter and several years of a meaningful relationship with my family. During your addiction you don’t really have friends, you might have your partying buddies so when an emergency pops up in your life these are no where to be found. Real friends walk together with you through all of it. My addiction included alcohol as well as drugs and that i drank almost everyday. From the time I made the selection to avoid the addiction cycle in my life, it became a step at the same time plus it was hard.
Once I began coming from my addictive lifestyle what I found in its wake was a lot of fear and insecurities within myself, broken relationships without any real idea a few things i was going to do along with the rest of my entire life. I truly began one step at a time and something day at any given time. During my recovery my brother was killed in a motorcycle accident and through that grieving process is when I chose to permit God directly into help me to. It took many years but healing came, direction for my entire life came and my marriage flourished. I completed Senior High School, graduated from College and have started my very own business, which now incorporates a business which allows me to work from your home through a blogging platform.
Addiction Recovery Is Possible. After the cause of any addiction is identified and worked through then your primary reason to your addiction has stopped being one factor. For most who remain addicts throughout their lives this is due to they have not identified their real cause, usually are not prepared to get through their issues and enable healing to take place. Many desire to remain a victim with their circumstance, not realizing exactly what the future would hold on their behalf if they would rid yourself of their victim mentality. Constructing a relationship with God was key for my recovery, it is actually through that relationship that true healing happened.
My need for drugs and alcohol is completely gone. Through building a relationship with God my self worth was restored, relationships were restored and i also discovered feelings of purpose for my entire life. Through my recovery I gained the skill set needed to turn into a better wife, mother, friend and employee ( which now has become a business owner). My path to recovery may have taken a lot different route when we had known regarding the programs around to us. Programs for addiction recovery are valuable tools, not just to the addicts but to there families too.
Addiction Recovery and Programs. Although I ultimately gained freedom from my addictions a program for addiction recovery would have been an excellent advantage to me. Programs offer support systems, counseling, aide in identifying your triggers. Programs offer tools which you can use throughout your life for several situations that you will face. Programs offer you the chance to escape your familiar surroundings which aides within your recovery process. After many years of addiction recovery I began vxktfb for Teen Challenge that is a faith-based addiction recovery program:.
First being a Development Director and after that being a Program Director. While this is a great program there were some additional steps i wished to offer those seeking help, so my husband and i also opened our own recovery program and for a few years we welcomed those seeking help into our home. They lived with us for about per year and that we dealt with them in depth, it absolutely was one of the most rewarding experience We have had within my life.
We closed this system because we knew it was time to move in a different direction with our lives, but we have been always contacting those searching for help themselves or a member of family trying to find help for one they love. I am about to start doing a bit of volunteer work with a program in our area. Trying to help addicts overcome their addiction is quite rewarding work which is a thing that I am going to take part in throughout my entire life in one way or another. Should you or someone within your family members are suffering from addiction, research recovery programs and you will find the right fit to suit your needs. Allow yourselves to heal, allow yourself addiction recovery and also to lead a fulfilling life.
